Horror music in major key

15/9/2015

It's no secret that one of the key elements of any good horror movie is the music. Nothing builds suspense like a long, drawn out note and nothing makes you jump out of your seat like a sudden blast of noise. But what happens when you make a small change to the music, like playing a theme in a major key? Does it still deliver the same punch?
When these classic horror themes are changed, they go from being the song of your nightmares to a barely recognizable tune that sounds more like an 80's tv theme. Now someone just needs to play some classic children's movie themes in a minor key and see how scary it can be.

I knew the "Heidelberger Schlossbeleuchtung" some fireworks together with the Castle being enlighted, but this is a couple of steps further. On June 6 of 2015 this spectacle took place at the Castle of Karlsruhe (D). Karlsruhe celebrates it's 300 year cityrights this year. This was one of the many festivities organized. Although music is a secondary layer here, it's still a professionel piece of art. See more at http://ka300.de/home/

Stairway to heaven

8/9/2015

Led Zeppelin's singer Robert Plant wrote in 1971 this Rock-ballad-classic "Stairway to heaven" and is still recognized as one off the major influencing written pieces of music in history.

Ann and Nancy Wilson of "Heart", along with Jason Bonham (Son of Led Zeppelin's drummer John Bonham who died in 1980), playing Stairway to Heaven as a tribute concert for Led Zeppelin on Dec. 2, 2012 at Kennedy Center.

Always thought as being a hard song to perform live. Please stick to the 4:00 minutes marker, where the song opens up in a shot climbing the "stairway to heaven".

It was televised by CBS on Dec. 26, 2012, but as a short version.
This is the full version released on iTunes in 2013.

She's so nervous answering simple questions like "what's your name?". It takes seconds. With her introduction she gets the device to breath deep twice before she starts singing.

Hear for your self, if it was necessary to do so...

Josh Daniel

Josh Daniel sings in the audition of X-factor UK 2015th song "Jealous" from "Labrinth". 18 y/o Josh lost his best friend just a year ago and says the words of this song has a whole other meaning now. "It's hard for me to say, I'm jealous of the way you're happy without me."

Simon Cowell, the cool, cold hearted judge as we know him in some of his criticisms, is not able to comment a single word.
Because of the background story, the song has evolved into a striking emotional misile...
It's what makes a good song great!

Virtual Choir V2.0

TED´s talk of Eric Whitacre who had a genius idea to let many people sing a song, put that all together, him conducting the piece with this splendid result. A music score to become humble...

I do not believe, I saw and heard something so beautiful. Goose bumps from head to toes. How the internet as we know it can be used as a wonderful way of connecting ppl.
By now I found the fourth piece of music... There are probably more, but thought it was a nice beginning. Hope you like it.

1964; One of the worlds most loved Disney classics "Mary Poppins" gained 13 Academy Award nominations and won 5, one of which included "Best Actress" for Julie Andrews who played the main role.

This version is techniccaly not a mashup, but changed the music into a totally different style called Death Metal.
There is no need to listen to the whole song. I don´t want to annoy you. I think it´s funny.
